Bringing Harmony to Nobbney

We're issuing a challenge for the weekend.

Give us your best (serious or tongue-in-cheek) suggestion for the song that best represents New Albany...and cast your vote to find a winner we can adopt as the "Unofficial Song" for our fine city.

Assessing Galbraith

He Was Right - and Ignored (click link to read)

I don't often do this, but on the occasion of a tremendous biography of John Kenneth Galbraith, I'm directing you to read this eloquent review by Eric Rauchway offered up at Eric Alterman's Altercation Web log, hosted by www.MSNBC.com.

I read Altercation every day and could refer you there regularly if I did this for a living.

The book is John Kenneth Galbraith and the Making of American Economics, by Richard Parker, sells for $35, and is available at your nearest independent bookseller.

Credibility

It's worth repeating here a comment I added on NAConfidential.

P.P.S. - If a nationally published author commits plagiarism by lifting entire passages from another's work without attribution and without the protections of an accepted fair use custom, will that nationally published author be able to find gainful employment with any legitimate publishing operation? Just wondering.

For those of you seeking to become copyright violators, the accepted keystroke is "Ctrl-C" to copy, and "Ctrl-V" to paste.

Maybe we all should send an e-mail to bsherman@indiancountry.org and ask how he or she feels about this subject. Or just read the original at http://www.stoplewisandclark.org/legacy_waic.doc.

Let us not hear another word about credibility from that offending quarter.
