The Wisdom of Strangers

The last visitor to my store this evening parted with this gem:

There's no idea that is as dangerous as ignorance.

Have a stimulating and rewarding day, folks.

I purpose a debate of current NA City issues between 4 hand picked Speak Out Loud NA bloggers against 4 hand picked Progressives, with a judge and real debating format.

Possible venue; Destinations Bookseller for one of the quarterly public awareness forums.

Anyone game?

Edward, you made a compelling case for continued dialogue yesterday, although I will still refrain from joining you over at the east ender's Web log.

I propose that you, with no allegiances, be the one who hand-picks the participants and selects the arbiter.

We will gladly offer our space for such an event.

But how will you identify SOLNA bloggers if they remain anonymous? We use plastic bags at Destinations Booksellers - we'd have to find some little paper bags for the SOLNA contingent.

Destination..

You need to continue your Debates and Forums with this Garner Adminstration.

Ask us if we care what you all say or think. We don't need your Quarterly Public Awareness Forums. Trust me us Little People of New Albany are "VERY AWARE."

Why don't you Debate Dan Coffey, Bill Schmidt, Steve Price, Larry Kochert?

You have no problem writing what liars, cowards, idiots they are.

Have the guts to sit across from them and repeat to their face what you write on your Blogs!

As the Concern Taxpayer--I totally support Dan, Bill, Larry, And especially Steve Price.

Their is also not a finer experienced Voice and fairer Councilman than Bill Schmidt. He is one of the most "honorable men" in New Albany. And the many Little People of New Albany totally Support Mr. Schmidt!

And I truly believe they will all do the right thing on Tuesday. And vote for a Full Investigation.

We don't need to Debate you. We have the truth, facts on our side.

The Little People are Proud, Strong, fed-up and United.

Your game playing-taunting days with us on "SPEAK OUT LOUD NA" are about over..

We our focus and The Little Peoples Of New Albany's--Voices will be heard!

As you both may have read, today has been, shall we say, rambunctious.

Free speech has yet again been banned from the Speak Out blog.

Laura continues to insist that anonymity is necessary to forestall retribution, but she lacks the genetic capability to see that it works both ways, and continues to defend it when her fans threaten anonymously.

It's like having a discussion ... oh, whatever. I've been grappling with irrationality like this for as long as I can remember. The spasms passing for thought never change -- just the name (if, that is, you know the names).

Ignorance, again. Thanks, I guess, for fishing this up from whatever pond you found this. While we are a destination, the world of possibilities opened at our store strongly dictated that we name it Destinations Booksellers.

Note the plural. Free speech allows for different paths and for different destinations. We provide the tools (and the venue) for each of our patrons to find their own destinations.

As you know, Ed, I'm pretty much tied to the store during the commercial day. As a consequence, I'm about the easiest person in New Albany to find.

Some of the named council members have no trouble navigating the one-way streets of New Albany, and they will tell you I have no problem saying face-to-face what I say in writing.

But then, that's why I sign my name to my posts. Anything else would just be cowardly.

Why don't you Debate Dan Coffey, Bill Schmidt, Steve Price, Larry Kochert?

I do, on a regular basis. They, however, have a much larger platform from which to speak, access to much more information, and are dedicated to securing their own power. I doubt seriously if they want to even acknowledge they are aware of me.

I've certainly made known my opinions about their value and service to the city. And I suspect they, too, have made known their opinion of me.

Was this posted on The Random Objection Generator? How are things over there, Ed? I lost interest in that particular "shade" of "thinking" a long time ago.

As a citizen petitioning for action, I have to sign up, stand in line, and keep my comments to under five minutes. I also write. None of those worthies has ever seen fit to offer debate on their own turf, or in writing.

But then, by their measure, nothing written on a blog is worth reading, much less acknowledging or responding to.

However, their wives certainly have been busy on the blogs, haven't they? How about we have our wives debate? I'd buy a ticket to that one. Maybe Laura could book the Ogle Center for us?

Great acronym. I have always loved good cat fights. Being with the same woman now for almost 20 years I can say, "she can hold here own". But she would rather debate Laura Bush rather than the Queen of the Trog's.

On a serious note, I felt that some one might take tha bait and wish for LO to set up her side of the debate, wishful thinking on my part.

So when do I start my campaign for the council seat? Would I be able to wear my Berkeley Communist shirt on the campaign trail or just at party headquarters-the red room? LOL

Roger keep posting, she has no right to say who can post, who cannot. As I told Randy yesterday, you tell somebody something long enough they will start to believe it.
