Quick Thoughts

A quick thought: Civic discourse in New Albany is hindered, nay, made nearly impossible by those who can't imagine anyone involving themselves in public affairs out of any motives other than greed, ambition, and self-interest.

It ain't so. But so long as our opponents (or enemies, as the C-J is wont to call them) credit no other motive, seeking to persuade them is a futile exercise.

It is ironic, though. People who assume those motives in others must surely harbor those motives themselves. How else could they attribute them to others if that isn't what their motives would be if placed in the same situation?
