It's Not in the Water

I love New Albany. Warts and all. Here's proof that muddled thinking isn't exclusive to the misanthropic and "so open-minded their brains might fall out" disciples of Mrs. Anna Schmidt's boogedy-boogedy doubletalk. See if you recognize any of these themes.

As an ill-informed pseudo-intellectual with a particular interest in the unverifiable, I'm always on the lookout for some partially thought out misinformation. So, if you have an uninformed solution to a dilemma that doesn't actually exist, don't bother double-checking your information. I'm all ears.

To say that Mrs. Schmidt fills the air with boogedy-boogedy doubletalk in no way implies that she is not a caring compassionate person.

To say she is wrong is not an attack. The only people she's hurting are those who believe her.

And sorry, Shirley. I didn't intentionally block your posting. I was unaware there were any postings being held up by the comment moderation function.

To answer you, again, how would YOU know that she doesn't post on any blogs? Are you telling me that none of these half-truths and faulty legal reasoning and cooked numbers can be sourced to Anna?

She can be honest AND wrong. She can be dishonest AND wrong. She can be intelligent AND wrong. She can throw numbers around that are not relevant to the issues and cloud rather than clarify, thus misleading people who find her to be kind, honest, intelligent, caring, and compassionate.

And as for when she has used "boogedy boogedy doubletalk?"

Whenever she has spoken to me, that's exactly what she uses. At council, that is what she uses. Please disabuse me of the notion that Anna is a primary source for the "facts" you and your fellow bloggers toss around.

And for the record, I find being in Anna's company to be a delightful experience. I just don't surrender my right to think for myself because a council member's wife tells me something is so.

And Shirley, the system settings failed to inform me that you had tried to post. Because you play by the rules and register with Blogger, I was not alerted. Had you posted anonymously, I would have been alerted and would have let them right through.

I had no intention of keeping your post held up for more than a day. Just a mistake.

Now that's an attack, Ms. Oates:

There is far too much to talk about without getting sidetracked into arguments and rude personal assults that Roger, Randy, and Tim, et al, instigate with their viscous remarks.

I would assume that Volunteer Hoosier is the "Randy" mentioned in the quote above. I'll bet I know who "Roger" and "Tim" are, too. And as for et al? That's a cave-dweller trying to make trouble.

That's right. You've suspected it all along. Because neither I nor any of my friends post anonymously, keeping the pot stirred at Shout Out, Lout! becomes even harder.

Some pal of Laura's (maybe Laura herself?) feels it necessary to pretend to oppose the zeitgeist and insert crude, bashing comments.

Without that, there's very little fuel to stoke the anger over there. All the posts would essentially be "Great article, Laura. Thank you for. providing this. PLACE for the REAL people who care."

I do not make viscous comments. I would like to think my comments flow with greater lubrication.

And if the woman meant to say "vicious," I reject the label.

Yes, there are issues. And one of the issues facing this city is that certain individuals seek to deceive the people of this city.

When I know a statement to be untrue, or when I see someone stating as fact something that is not, in fact, true, I will discuss it.

The deceivers will not win. New Albanians aren't stupid. When they learn who is really lying to them, and why, they will reject the deceivers.

Until that time, VH will not give up the fight to tell the truth.

As Mr. Deatrick put it, the "gospel of somebody said so" is not long for this world.

Once again, as usual, a drive-by posting.

Note that I answered Mrs. Baird, but she declines to respond.

What's so hard about engaging in free and open discussion?

There is an inherent risk to free and open discussion, in that dissonant ideas and concepts might have to be considered and processed.

Hence the premium placed on varying forms of "belief." Once you believe, you must only defend the faith and not acknowledge opposing viewpoints.

How often have we seen this on SOLNA? Someone will say "take that back to wherever you came from - we already have a belief, and we need not consider yours."

Nothing new in any of this, although it's really too bad when you can spot glimmers of comprehension, and know that peer pressure and habit prevent these from being realized.
